Pardon My French & Co. Candle Care & Safety Guide
-
Burn Within Sight: Always keep a burning candle in view. Never leave it unattended.
-
Keep Away from Flammable Objects: Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, furniture, papers, and other items that could catch fire.
-
Keep Away from Children & Pets: Ensure your candle is placed in an area that’s out of reach for children and pets to prevent accidents.
-
Trim the Wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch (6 mm). This helps maintain an even burn, reduces soot, and extends the candle’s life.
-
First Burn = Full Melt Pool: On your first use, allow the candle’s entire surface to become liquid. This prevents tunneling and ensures a consistent burn thereafter.
-
Limit Burn Time: For safe and optimal performance, burn your candle for no more than 3–4 hours at a stretch.
-
Maintain a Clean Wax Pool: Keep wick trimmings, matches, and any debris out of the wax to avoid uneven burning or potential fire hazards.
-
Monitor Candle Height: Discontinue use when only ¼ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning a candle down too low can cause the container to overheat or break.
-
Use a Snuffer to Extinguish: Safely extinguish your candle using a snuffer or by gently blowing out the flame. Do not use water, as it can cause hot wax to splatter.
-
Store Responsibly: Keep candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to preserve their fragrance.
